The work that I create is inseparable from my relationship to the world as an amateur naturalist and environmentalist. This relationship began as a child with my wanderings around the land surrounding my parents’ property and the curiosities that arose from these explorations. To behold the world through the eyes of a child is a wondrous thing. Everything is new and worthy of inspection. Naturalists live in the world in a very similar way. They have an unquenchable desire to understand the world around them. An inquiring mind and careful observation can lead to discoveries about the origins and functions of things. It is this way of seeing and being in the world that is the continuous inspiration behind my artistic endeavors. The intent of my work is to serve as a catalyst for the re-enchantment of nature in hopes that through this deeper connection people will be inspired to be better stewards of Earth and become informed about the critical issues our environment is facing.
